The Palmyra Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible and always welcome.
This is a full-service website that serves as the point of entry for people learning about us for the first time as well as delivering pertinent information to our old friends. Here is a summary of what you will find on the site (top tool bar, left to right).
The Home Page features a revolving slide show of museum activities as well as notices of society events on both the left and center of the page below the slide show.
About Us explains how we came into being and what we do as an organization. The drop down menu includes a listing of the Board of Directors and officers. Frequently Asked Questions asks the right questions and provides the right answers.
The easy-to-use Calendar of Events lists all of our events for the coming year as well as places and starting times. As a service to our readers, we also list some other community events.
Turner Museum Exhibits describes what is currently showing in the Turner Museum and some of the past exhibits. Carlin House Exhibits gives a hint of the large number of period pieces displayed in an 1840s house. The Photo Gallery, still under development, shows historic photos on a particular topic and will change from time to time.
Publications has two drop downs: Newsletters, the archived copies from more than thirty years (the first one is the newsletter table of contents), and Other Publications lists. We are very proud of the number and quality of our publications. Newsletters can be opened and read online while the other publications are for sale for a nominal fee at the museum.
Links to History reflects our pride in being connected to the Wisconsin State Historical Society and many other like-minded local societies in southeast Wisconsin. Contact information is provided. Links to the Community connects you to local organizations that have a website.
Help Us gives our public ideas on how to help us make history come alive in Palmyra, including membership information. Contact Us provides a direct e-mail line from you to us.
Like other websites, ours is a living organism that will grow and change with the times.
We think the website provides an excellent summary of who we are and what we do. We invite all of you to log on and see if you don’t agree. And tell your friends.
